JOHANNESBURG, 16 MARCH 2023 – Africa’s premier institution for disaster risk financing on and for the African continent, African Risk Capacity Limited and Milliman, a risk management, benefits and technology company, have come together to launch a postgraduate Africa Scholarship Programme exclusively for African students.

The socio-economic and environmental damage of drought, floods and cyclones further devastates a population where almost half live in extreme poverty (United Nations 2021).

A growing climate emergency and its intensifying toll on African soil make climate adaptation and early warning systems critical focus areas in building resilience on the continent. The most effective way to confront the crisis is, firstly to be armed with information that allows one to prepare well in advance, and secondly to ensure a country has the resources to meet the demand for assistance when natural disasters strike.
